As an alumni of the US Department of State Mandela Washington Fellowship Program, Catherine partnered with a long-standing colleague from her previous work in public health who is based in the United States.

Hatua Project
The project aimed to build the capacity of these additional 130 rural women who wished to work full-time for VB, through training that would demonstrate the kinds of high-end skills needed to produce baskets suitable for regional and international markets. The project also provided badly needed funds for renting reliable transport to access their villages.
